Fruit and vegetables are significant sources of vitamins, minerals and fiber, and they contain 70-90 % water in the fresh state.
FruitS are rich in sugar. Therefore their energy value is higher than in vegetables, and their consumed quantity should not exceed the daily recommended dose (2 pieces).
On the other hand vegetables should be ideally eaten as a part of every meal. Vegetables are mainly made up of water and fiber, except for certain species. Vegetables adding to meal reduces its energy value.
